Cobus Coetzee
Kite Travel & Photography is a personal collection of travel photographs created from a lifelong love of exploration, nature, and the beauty of the world around us.
Born and raised in South Africa, I developed a deep appreciation for the African bush from an early age. The open landscapes, wildlife, sounds, colours, and atmosphere of the African bush continue to inspire much of my photography today.
Over the years, my travels have taken me beyond South Africa to different parts of the world, where I have photographed landscapes, wildlife, people, architecture, cultures, and everyday moments that tell their own quiet stories.
For me, photography is about more than simply taking a picture. A photograph is a glimpse of the past, a moment in time never to be repeated. And photography the art of capturing that moment in a way that will evoke memories for years to come. Memories of beautiful places visited, wonderful people encountered, and time spent with good friends.
Through Kite Travel & Photography, I would like to share a visual record of the places I have visited, the experiences that have stayed with me, and the natural beauty that continues to inspire my journeys.
Why ‘Kite Travel & Photography’?
The name was inspired by the following lines from one of my favourite songs:
“… I’m not afraid to die
I’m not afraid to live
And when I’m flat on my back
I hope to feel like I did …”
The title of the song is ‘Kite’ by U2 ……. who incidentally is also my favourite rock band!
These few lines not only became my life-motto but also my motivation to travel. I want to see as many different places as possible, experience new things and meet interesting people. Good health and the privilege to travel are gifts that need to be treasured and appreciated. I want to live life to the full and I hope that when I come to the end of my earthly journey, I will feel that I have truly lived and that I have made a difference in the live’s of the people I got to know.
